At the beginning of next year, the Latvian pharmaceutical company SIA "Metfarm" will begin exporting products to Western Europe. The registration process has been officially completed and all regulatory requirements for the sale of Latvian-made dietary supplements in pharmacies and specialized stores in Portugal have been met.
In October 2024, the dietary supplement "Alco Bye" of SIA "Metfarm" was officially registered with the Portuguese Food and Veterinary Service, and its distribution will begin starting next year. The dietary supplement, patented and manufactured in Latvia, is designed to accelerate alcohol metabolism and reduce side effects.
"Alco Bye" has been available in Latvian pharmacies for 20 years, and entering the international market is a significant step in the growth of "Metfarm". Viktorija Mālniece, a member of the company's board, explains: ""Alco Bye"" enters the European market at a time when the demand for natural and effective products is only growing. We see great potential in the Portuguese market - we will offer a unique and scientifically based solution. The product is different from the others because it addresses the root of the problem, promoting active and rapid alcohol elimination, preventing headaches, nausea and weakness.”
“Metfarm” is entering the Portuguese market in cooperation with “Windy Pharma”, which are consultants in the pharmaceutical industry, with extensive experience in the areas of regulatory issues, drug safety and quality assurance.
V. Mālniece is convinced that entering the Portuguese market is just the beginning of the distribution of dietary supplements in Europe. “We are currently in the process of registering with the food and veterinary services of Estonia and Lithuania. Further goals include registering and selling the product in other European Union markets,” Mālniece continues about development plans.
“Alco Bye” is a dietary supplement developed and created in Latvia. Its recipe was created in 2002 by a doctor-narcologist Dr. Leonīds Cudečkis with pharmacist Nineļa Cudečka, using scientifically proven ingredients grown in Latvian nature. In 2012, the recipe was improved and patented. The dietary supplement promotes the body's recovery after alcohol consumption, stimulating faster elimination of toxic substances.
About SIA “Metfarm”
SIA “Metfarm” is a Latvian pharmaceutical company specializing in the production and distribution of dietary supplements. The company provides innovative products based on scientifically proven ingredients and research. All products are manufactured in Latvia.
The nutritional supplement AlcoBye, unique in its composition, was invented, patented, and produced in Latvia. It contains 12 valuable substances that help the body recover quickly after drinking alcohol. It can be purchased in all local and online pharmacies in Latvia.
An effective combination of natural ingredients with medically proven effects helps to remove alcohol breakdown products from the body effectively, ensuring that the result of assistance is felt after 30-45 minutes. The product was created not only for those who have problems with alcohol consumption but also for healthy people if they happen to drink "too much" during an event.
"The drug can be used the next day in the morning, so it is recommended to keep it "at hand" in the home medicine cabinet alongside traditional painkillers, especially if you are not a regular alcoholic. It is different with planned parties - in our experience, there are cases when AlcoBye is purchased for work teams after the celebration to resume work more easily. In Latvia, this could be particularly relevant for employers in the summer who hire seasonal workers for field or forest work," says Viktorija Mālniece, a member of the board of the production company "Metfarm".
The natural remedy significantly reduces the concentration of alcohol in the blood and helps to improve the feeling of well-being after drinking alcohol in general, rather than eliminating only individual symptoms. Unlike other products available on the market, it interferes with the metabolism of alcohol, that is, it accelerates the elimination of alcohol.
Chicory roots, horsetail roots, and rosemary leaves contained in AlcoBye help the body to ensure normal liver functioning. Chicory helps detoxification systems. Ginger root, cinnamon bark, and burdock root promote normal glucose metabolism, while smilax root and nutmeg seed help improve digestion.
The AlcoBye recipe is the lifelong work of a Latvian doctor, a narcologist, and his wife, a pharmacist. AlcoBye has been in production for 20 years, since 2002. In 2012, the recipe was improved and supplemented, as well as patented.
Among those who tend to drink excessively, 14% use alcohol the next morning as a remedy for hangovers from the previous night's heavy drinking. This is according to a survey conducted by the market and public opinion research center "SKDS", conducted in cooperation with SIA "Metfarm", the manufacturer of the nutritional supplement "AlcoBye" patented in Latvia.
As shown by the survey data, water and sleep are the most popular habits for improving well-being among Latvian residents after excessive alcohol consumption. Of the respondents who tend to drink too much alcohol, almost two-thirds or 65% drink a lot of water, and more than half of the respondents (54%) rely on sleep to improve their well-being.
On the other hand, a fourth part, or 25%, eat hearty food and also use painkillers, almost as many (18%) drink strong coffee or tea, and 14% - to stay lighter, drink a little alcohol the next morning. Only 3% use special anti-hangover nutritional supplements, while more than a tenth (13%) of respondents who tend to drink too much alcohol admit that they do nothing special to improve their well-being the next day.
"Although 21% of the population state that they never overdo it with alcoholic beverages, and 15% do not drink alcohol at all, there is still a living tradition of 'treating what I get sick', especially the so-called for the generation of Soviet times - in the age group from 45 to 54 years old," emphasizes Viktorija Mālniece, member of the board of SIA "Metfarm".
According to the representative of the manufacturer, water, coffee or painkillers are traditional and can certainly help in such cases. "The relatively large number of people who admit that they can't help themselves after drinking too much is surprising! It is possible that this is a lack of information about special means, their effects. Chicory roots, horsetail roots, rosemary leaves contained in "AlcoBye" help the body to ensure normal liver functioning. Chicory helps detoxification systems. Ginger roots, cinnamon tree bark and elder thistle roots contribute to normal glucose metabolism, while smilax roots and nutmeg seeds improve digestion," says the representative of the manufacturing company.
The market and public opinion research center "SKDS" population survey was conducted in March 2024, surveying 1,005 Latvian residents aged 18 to 75. The sample is representative of the total population of Latvia.
